Privacy Policy
Effective August 13, 2026 · Last updated August 23, 2026
This is an English translation of the Spanish original. If the two versions differ, the Spanish version prevails.
The essentials, in four sentences. Betty answers calls for you, so it handles data about you and also about the person calling. The calls Betty answers are recorded and transcribed, and the caller is told so at the start of the call. To understand what people say, we use third-party artificial intelligence services. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app, at any time, without asking anyone's permission.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is WILSON DAVID ALMECIGA, domiciled in Bogotá D.C., Colombia, who is responsible for the Betty app and the gobetty.co website.
- Address: CRA 55B # 186-81, Bogotá D.C., Colombia
- Email: hola@gobetty.co
- Phone: +57 (300) 9100 904
2. The two kinds of people this policy covers
This policy distinguishes two roles, because the data and the rights are different:
- The user — the person who downloads Betty, creates their links and, if they choose, subscribes to a plan.
- The caller — the person who opens a Betty link in their browser, or dials a Betty number, and talks to the assistant. The caller is not a user of the app, did not accept these terms and often does not know Betty. That is why they have their own section (section 4) and a notice at the start of every call.
3. What data we handle about the user
| Data | What for |
|---|---|
| Your account identifier, randomly generated when you first open the app | It is your account. Betty does not ask for an email or a password to get started: that anonymous identifier is the only thing that separates your messages from someone else's. It never leaves your phone and our servers. |
| The links you create and the context you give Betty about each one (for example, "the car listing") | Answering the call knowing what it is about, and grouping messages by link. |
| Session token (stored encrypted on your phone; on our servers, only its fingerprint) | Keeping you signed in without asking you for anything again. |
| Notification token, issued by the notification service to identify your device | Letting you know when Betty leaves you a message. If you don't grant notification permission, it doesn't exist. |
| App usage data: app opens and sessions | Counted by the notification service to know whether a notification reached an active phone. They are not combined with anything else or used for advertising. |
| Your email, only if you join the waitlist for a Betty number | Writing to you once when numbers are available. Nothing else. |
| Assigned Betty number, if you ever get one | Routing the calls that come in on that number to your account. |
| Your Apple or Google account identifier, only if you choose to link it | Being able to give you back your links and messages if you change or lose your phone. From Apple we request only the identifier. Google, however, always sends your name and email along with it: we receive them, we don't store them, and we discard them immediately — the identifier is the only thing we keep. We don't request access to Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive or any other service from the provider, and we don't use any of this for advertising or share it. If you don't link anything, we don't handle any data of this kind. |
| Your subscription status | Knowing whether your plan is active and how many calls you have left. Payments are processed by Apple or Google: we never see or store your card details. |
| Your listing notes, if you choose to dictate them to Betty or type them | Letting Betty answer callers' questions (the price, the neighborhood, whatever you include) instead of only taking a message. When you dictate them, your voice is transcribed on the spot and not recorded: we keep no audio from that call, only the notes Betty understood, and nothing goes live until you review and approve it in the app. You decide what goes in the notes; the app asks you not to include personal data about yourself or anyone else, because Betty will tell anyone who calls whatever is there. |
| IP address, temporarily | Stopping abusive use of public links. It is deleted automatically within a few minutes. |
Betty does not ask for access to your contacts, your call log, your location or your photos. It only uses the microphone when you call Betty from the app to dictate your listing notes, or to leave a message for someone else from their link, and it asks for permission at that moment. Betty does not listen to or intervene in the calls you answer yourself: it only handles the ones it answers.
4. What data we handle about the caller
When someone opens a Betty link in their browser, or dials a Betty number, and the assistant answers, we handle:
- The number they are calling from, when the network provides it.
- The audio recording of the conversation with Betty.
- The transcript of that conversation.
- The information the person chooses to share: their name, where they are calling from, the reason, a number to call them back.
- An automatically generated classification of the call (important, spam or possible scam).
The notice at the start of the call
Betty identifies itself as an assistant and says the call may be recorded before the conversation continues. Anyone who does not agree can hang up at that point. That notice is the basis on which we record and transcribe.
What Betty never says
By design, the assistant does not know or mention the user's name and does not confirm whose line it is. That information is never given to the system that runs the conversation, precisely so it cannot be revealed. This is a technical decision, not a promise of good will.
5. Third-party artificial intelligence
So that Betty can understand what people say and put the message together, the audio and transcript of the call are sent to external artificial intelligence providers acting on our behalf. This includes data about the caller.
We work with these providers under contractual terms that prohibit them from using the content for their own purposes. As far as it depends on us, we choose and configure the services so that the content of calls is not used to train models. We send only what is needed to produce the message.
The same applies when you dictate your listing notes: your voice goes through those providers to be transcribed and turned into the notes, without being recorded.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data or hand it over for advertising. We share it only with providers that deliver a service to us, and only to the extent that service requires:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Telephony providers | Receiving calls to the Betty number | Numbers and call audio |
| Voice agent platform and AI models | Talking, transcribing, summarizing and classifying | Audio and transcript |
| Cloud infrastructure | Storing messages and audio | All of the above, encrypted and with restricted access |
| Subscription processor | Knowing whether your plan is active | An identifier for your account |
| Notification service | Telling you when a message comes in | An identifier for your device and app opens |
| Website analytics | Counting visits to gobetty.co | Browsing data from the website, not the app |
We may also provide information when a competent authority requires it through legal channels.
7. International transfer
Our servers and those of our providers are outside Colombia, mainly in the United States. By using Betty you agree that your data is processed in those countries, with the contractual safeguards required by Colombian law. If the country where it is stored ever changes, we will say so here.
8. How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Call audio | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Messages: transcript, summary and classification | As long as your account exists, or until you delete the message from the app |
| Audio of the call where you dictate your listing notes | Not stored |
| Your listing notes | As long as your account exists; you can change them anytime |
| Account data | As long as your account exists |
| Notification token | As long as the app is installed and permission is granted |
| Temporary IP log | Minutes |
| Purchase accounting records | As long as tax law requires, even if you delete your account |
When you delete your account, your links stop answering and your messages, transcripts and audio are deleted. If you had a Betty number, it goes through a waiting period before it can be assigned to someone else, so they don't receive calls meant for you.
9. Your rights
Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 gives you the right to access, update and correct your data; to request proof of your authorization; to be told how we use it; to revoke your authorization and ask us to delete it; and to file complaints with the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC).
The fastest options are in the app: each message can be deleted by swiping it, along with its audio, and Settings → My account → Delete my account erases everything with no forms and no waiting. For any other request, email us at hola@gobetty.co. Since the account is anonymous, to find it we need you to write from the email you linked it with, or to tell us one of your links; we respond within 15 business days at most.
If you talked to Betty and are not a user
You have the same rights over your recording and transcript, whether you came in through a link or a number. Email us at hola@gobetty.co with the link you opened or the number you called from, and the approximate date, and we will find and delete them. You don't need the app or an account to ask.
10. Security
Information travels encrypted and is stored encrypted. Your session token lives in the secure storage of your phone's operating system (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android), and on our servers we keep only its fingerprint, not the token. That is why, if you lose your phone without having linked your account to Apple or Google, there is no way to give it back to you: nobody else can prove it was yours. Audio files are kept in private storage with no public access, and the app plays them through temporary links that expire. No system is infallible: if an incident affects your data, we will notify you and the authorities as required.
11. Minors
Betty is a service for people 18 and older. It is not directed at children or teenagers, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we detect an account belonging to a minor, we delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change something, we update the date above. When the change is significant — for example, a new type of data or a new provider — we will let you know in the app before it takes effect.
