Betty
Other apps tell you who's calling.
I pick up for you.
I'm Betty. Instead of your number, you hand out mine: a link today, a real phone line soon. I pick up, ask who's calling and what it's about, and leave you the message. Your number stays for your people.

OK, here's how it works.
Two ways I can pick up.
Your Betty link
IncludedPut it wherever you post: Marketplace, your bio, a listing. Whoever opens it talks to me in their browser, with nothing to install. Make one for each thing you post, and turn it off the day that listing is done.
Talk to me nowYour Betty number
Coming soonEverything the link does, plus a real phone number: people just dial, with no browser and no permissions. It's the one that works on a sign, on a business card or taped to the car window. And it's the one that screens scammers, because scammers dial. They don't open links.
This is what a message from me looks like. Open it.

The whole conversation
— Hi, you've reached Betty, the assistant for this line. May I ask who's calling, and what it's about?
— Hi, I'm Andrew, I saw the listing for the car. Could I come see it this weekend?
— Of course. Would Saturday morning work for you?
— Perfect. And do you take trade-ins?
— I'll pass that question along and they'll call you back on this number. Thanks so much, Andrew, have a great day.
This one's made up, yours will be real.

The Betty number, coming soon
A real phone number people can dial. Leave me your email and I'll write you once: the day numbers are ready.
What Betty is
Betty is a mobile app that answers calls for you. We give you a link (and soon a phone number) that you can hand out instead of your personal number: whoever uses it talks to Betty, who asks who's calling and why, takes the message and delivers it to you in the app with the transcript, a summary and a warning if the call looks like a scam. Betty doesn't replace your phone line and doesn't handle emergency calls.
Why Betty asks for your Google account. Your Betty account is created automatically when you open the app and is stored on your phone: there's no username or password. Linking it to Google is what lets you keep your links and your messages if you switch phones or lose yours. When you link it, Google gives us your account identifier along with your name and email; of all that, we only store the identifier, which is all it takes to give you back what's yours. We don't request access to your Gmail, your contacts, your Drive or any other Google service, we don't use that data for advertising and we don't share it with third parties. Full details are in the privacy policy.
